NEET 2026 — Complete Strategy Guide for MBBS Aspirants
NEET UG 2026 is India's single entry point to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, and veterinary admissions. With approximately 24 lakh registered candidates competing for 1.1 lakh MBBS seats (government + private), the selection ratio is 1 in 22. But here's the key insight: you don't need to compete with all 24 lakh candidates — you only need to compete with the top 1.1 lakh who score 650+. That's a more achievable target than it sounds.
NEET 2026 Exam Pattern
Subject-Wise Strategy
Biology — 360 Marks (50% of NEET)
Biology is where NEET is won or lost. The good news: 50-60% of Biology questions come directly from NCERT text — word for word. Read NCERT Biology (Class 11 + 12) at least 3 times cover to cover. Pay attention to diagrams (at least 15-20 questions test diagram comprehension every year). Critical chapters: Human Physiology (excretory, nervous, endocrine), Genetics & Evolution, Ecology, Plant Physiology, Cell Biology.
Chemistry — 180 Marks (25% of NEET)
Chemistry is the most evenly distributed section. Organic Chemistry is highly scoring once you understand reaction mechanisms — don't memorize, understand the why. Inorganic: NCERT is 90% sufficient. Physical Chemistry requires daily numerical practice. Important: Don't neglect p-block, d-block, and coordination compounds — they contribute 15-20 marks every year.
Physics — 180 Marks (25% of NEET)
Physics is where most biology-stream students struggle. But here's the strategy: focus on the 5-6 most important chapters that contribute 50+ marks every year: Mechanics (Laws of Motion, Work-Energy, Kinematics), Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, and Modern Physics. Master these first, then address others. 50 problems daily is the minimum for Physics improvement.
